Elvis came to the rescue of a stranded motorist during the big freeze

Elvis, aka Stuart Hanton, a driver / loader from SITA UK's Battinson Road depot in Halifax, has been praised for his exemplary effort during the recent bad weather conditions.

He rescued driver, Andy McEwan, who had become stranded on the Elland Bypass in Huddersfield after his car broke down in the middle lane.

While Mr McEwan was on the hard shoulder making a call to the AA (Automobile Association) for help, Elvis spotted the stranded vehicle, pulled up in front of the car. He hooked it up to his vehicle ready to tow it away.

He then offered Mr McEwan a lift to wherever he needed to go and towed the car to a garage in Huddersfield.

Speaking after the event, Mr McEwan's wife, Roisin said,

"Elvis was a true gentleman and there are not a lot of people that would have done the same thing."

Martin Bower, Contract manager for SITA UK's Battinson Road contract adds, "I am really proud of Stuart and the dedication he has shown by going above and beyond to help out his fellow man during the recent bad weather."
